Description

Mid 17th century. Single storey and attic, 3-bay dwelling house. Harled; painted chamfered margins.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: central modern porch; flanking windows; 2 piended dormer windows above; central attic window; modern single storey extension at south; lean to roof.

S ELEVATION: blind gable head; modern extension.

N ELEVATION: blind elevation; central attic window.

W ELEVATION: projecting chimney breast; single storey adjoining building.

Modern glazing. Grey slate roof; crowstepped gables; large harled and coped stacks at gable heads.

INTERIOR: not seen 2000.

Statement of Interest

This cottage would have been part of an original row of cottages that were built before the larger north facing houses. Run-rig garden walls to rear; the run-rig gardens of houses on East Terrace appear on an 18th century map: J Adair, Map of West Lothian, 1737.
