Description

Circa 1860. Prominent water-storage structure, set on artificial mound in hilltop situation. Rectangular plan, low-pitched gabled building, essentially single storey. Squared and snecked sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, stugged and droved with raised margins.

Identical gables to N and S form principal elevations. Symmetrical, central door (metal to N, boarded timber to S) flanked by narrow ventilation slits. Upper gables each feature large louvred oculus.

Side elevations (E and W) each with ashlar eaves course and 3 symmetrical window openings, originally with metal shutters, now infilled in brick, interspersed on W side only by 2 slit vents.

Roof in grey graded Scotch slate. Ashlar skews with moulded skewputts and plain finials. Louvred, gabled timber vent emerges from central section of roof ridge, also slate-roofed.
