Later 19th century. Single storey and attic, 4-bay, rectangular-plan pair of semi-detached houses. Coursed red brick with yellow brick long and short dressings. Projecting cills; segmental-arched window and door openings; corbelled eaves course; gabled dormers with timber bargeboards and finials; timber bargeboards.
W (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: symmetrical; panelled bays; timber doors in 2 central bays, reached by steps, with letterbox fanlights; windows to flanking bays to left and right. 3 dormers windows to attic storey.
S ELEVATION: not seen 1998.
E ELEVATION: symmetrical; M-gabled; windows in 2 centre bays; doors with 2-pane fanlights to bays to outer left and right.
N ELEVATION: asymmetrical; 3 bay; centre and right bays gabled. Regular fenestration to ground floor; window off-centre to left of gablehead.
Predominantly 6-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof with lead ridge. Corbelled coping to brick gablehead stacks with circular cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
GATES, GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALLS: red and white gatepiers with stone pyramidal caps to W of house; boarded timber gates to W and E; brick walls with semicircular coping.
Emily Bank was a pair of overseers' houses when Emily and Gore Pits (1845) at Arniston Engine (now demolished) were operational.
