History

Erected in 1888; designed by C J Thomas and cast by M Denouvilliers (?) - weathered and faint French style signature

Exterior

Painted cast-iron statue of Christ with outstretched arms displaying stigmata; he stands upon an orb adorned with the symbols of the Passion. Octagonal rubble pedestal with dressed stone cap and platform.

Reasons for Listing

Listed as an unusual example of cast-iron statuary and for its contribution to the strong Catholic associations at Holywell.
