History

Probably early C18. Formerly The Plough Inn which closed in 1939.

Exterior

Former inn, now house and shop. Walls roughcast rendered and painted; steep-pitched machine-tile roof, no stacks. Double pile plan. Two storeys and attic. Two-window range of 4-pane horned sashes Central door with fluted pilasters and pedimented hood. Side elevation has paired gables, a single window range of 4-pane sashes in each, except ground floor left which retains a tripartite sash with stone sill.

Reasons for Listing

Included as an early C18 house. Group value with other buildings in Upper Church Street.
