History

Telephone call-box of K6 type designed in 1936 for the GPO by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, architect. This example dating from the reign of George VI and made at the Lion Foundry, Kirkintilloch.

Exterior

Square plan red-painted cast-iron telephone kiosk. Domed roof with four lunettes containing embossed George VI crowns over red lettered opals and ventilation slits. Raised surrounds to sides and to wooden door, all with marginal bars to horizontal metal glazing. Blank rear with foundry plate, moulded plinth.
