Description

SOUTH HUISH GALMPTON
SX 64 SE
4/86 Poole Cottage and Rose Cottage

G. V. II

Pair of cottages. Circa early C18. Rendered rubble walls. Gable ended thatch
roof with stone coping at right-hand end. Projecting rendered stack at each gable
end, probably rebuilt in C20.
Plan: each house has a 2-room plan, the outer one of each is heated, the right-
hand cottage projects slightly suggesting the building may be of 2 phases.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2-window front. Poole Cottage to left has C20
2-light casements with a C19 4-panel door to left of centre under thatch hood.
Rose Cottage to the right projects slightly and has C20 2-light casements on the
ground floor and an early C19 12-pane horizontal sliding sash on the 1st floor to
the right. Doorway in porched rear.
Interior: inaccessible at time of survey.
