Description

SOUTH MILTON
SX 64 SE
Barn immediately to the south-west
4/118 of Whitlocksworthy Farmhouse

G. V. II

Barn. Circa early C16 but altered in C19 and C20. Slate rubble walls with some
cob in end walls. Hipped slate roof. Long rectangular plan, original arrangement of which is uncertain but probably a threshing barn.
Exterior: single storey. Elevation facing house has an inserted doorway towards
the left-hand end and at the centre is its only surviving original feature: a
heavy timber doorframe with shouldered head. In front of it is a C20 concrete
leanto. Right-hand end wall has a triangular owl-hole at the top.
Interior: C18 or early C19 pegged A-frame trusses.
