Listing Text

5/201 Woolston Place including garden
retaining wall, railings and gate
piers to south-east.
House. Early C19. Coursed slate stone rubble walls, rendered at the gable ends.
Gable ended slate roof with overhanging eaves. Rendered brick stack at each gable end.
Plan somewhat altered in C20 but originally double depth with one room either
side of central hall. Some internal partitions have been removed. C20 rear
Exterior: 2 storeys. Almost symmetrical 3 window front of early C19 16 pane
hornless sashes apart from C20 facsimile on ground floor to right. Dressed stone
flat arches over window. At centre is probably original 6 panel door with
restored open porch in front consisting of flat hood supported on fluted columns
with pilasters behind. At rear 2 original sashes survive, otherwise C20 windows.
Flat roof single storey C20 wing built on to include tall garden retaining wall
to south-east, abutting road on 2 sides, which has gateway in semi-circular recess on corner and divided steps with iron railings leading to gate with square rubble piers.
Interior: inaccessible at time of survey but likely to contain original joinery
such as panelled doors and staircase.
