6/38 Bow Bridge House
House. Circa early to mid C17. Local stone rubble with red brick window
dressings; rendered left hand end wall. Grouted scantle slate hipped roof.
3 stone rubble lateral stacks at the rear with brick shafts.
Plan: 3-room plan with an entrance stairhall between the equal-size right
hand room and centre room; the left hand room is smaller. All the rooms are
heated from lateral stacks at the back. There is a single storey wing behind
the left hand end. Formerly there was a doorway in the front of the left hand
room. Exterior: 2 storeys 1:3 window range; C20 facsimile 16-pane sashes,
ground floor centre window is a tripartite sash with glazing bars; all in
openings with red brick segmented circles, jambs and slate sills. Doorway to
right centre has glazed C20 door and C19 wooden trellis porch. The ground
floor left hand window was once a doorway. The right hand ground floor window
also seems formerly to have been a doorway but it was originally a window.
At the rear are 3 lateral stacks with set-offs, the right hand is smaller;
between the centre and left hand stack there is a slated portico hood over the

moulded handrail; the remainder of the interior was not inspected.
