12/131 Limekiln on North
Edge of Symon's Tree


Disused lime kiln. Circa early C19. Local limestone rubble. Built into
bank with access to higher level at rear for loading. The front wall with
corbel stone at apex. Inside the swallow is vaulted and the kiln opening
at the back has been damaged a little. The circular kiln is open at the
top and tapers towards the bottom, its internal walls are calcified. There
is a short section of retaining wall flanking at each side of front.
Situated by a disused quarry.
