House. Circa late C17 or early C18 extended in circa late C18. Local
limestone rubble, rendered at rear. Welsh slate roof south gabled end to
left and half-hipped end to right. Hipped roof rear wing. Rendered shaft
to projecting front lateral stack.
Plan: what survives is the lower end ie. the passage and lower room of
what was a three or two-room plan house. The lower room has a front
lateral stack. At the rear of the passage is a short circa late C18 wing
and at the lower right end a C19 single storey one room addition. The
demolished higher left end is said to have been used formerly as a mill and
must have been converted to that use.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2 window range. Late C19 2-light
casements with glazing bars. Passage doorway to left with remains of old
wooden frame but with C20 glazed door and corrugated iron hood. Large
projecting front lateral stack to right of centre with set-off and tall
rendered shaft. To right at lower end a slightly advanced single storey
addition with hipped scantle slate roof and late C19 two-light casement
with glazing bars. A section of the front wall to left continues and is
all that remains of the higher end of the house.#Rear: to left ground and
first floor C19 4-light casements with glazing bars. To right projecting
wing with later C19 first floor 2-light casement with glazing bars and
large C20 ground floor metal frame casement. To left single storey
addition has late C19 plank door and late C19 2-light casement with glazing
bars in segmental arched opening.
The higher left-hand gable end has disturbed masonry with rendered patch
possibly where an axial stack to the former hall has been removed.
Interior: passage blocked at rear. Solid wall between passage and main
room. Main room has exposed heavy undressed joists and front lateral
fireplace with cambered arch and dressed stone rubble jambs and without an
oven. C20 stairs in rear wing. First floor has two C18 fielded 2 panel
doors.
Roof: 3 trusses with straight principal rafters and lapped and pegged
collars.
