Lodge to Bradridge House qv, garden gate and gate-piers to drive entrance.
Early C19. Limewashed slate rubble. Low pitched pyramidal scantle slate
roof covered in bitumen; the very deep eaves on the front and sides are
carried on timber posts to form a verandah. Rendered square stack at apex
of roof.
Plan: Square single storey 4-room double depth plan facing the entrance
drive to Bradridge House. At the centre of that front a doorway giving
direct entry into the living room on the left; a smaller room on the right
of the front is probably a bedroom with a similar room behind both heated
from back to back fireplaces. behind the left hand front room is the
kitchen also sharing the stack with back to back fireplaces. On the front
and sides there is a verandah.
Exterior: Single storey. Symmetrical front with 1 window on either side
of a central doorway all with segmental stone arch heads; later C19 2-light
casements and glazed and panelled door. Similar 2-light casements on
either side elevations. The principal feature of the lodge is the verandah
on the front and sides which is framed by the very deep eaves of the roof
which is supported on rustic timber posts, 6 posts on the front, and not
including the corner posts these are 5 posts at the sides. The verandah
does not continue at the back of the lodge but now has a C20 outshut.
Interior: original joinery is intact including panelled doors and simple
wooden chimneypiece etc.
Including C19 Wrought iron garden gate at the front of the lodge with 2
concentric rings with intersecting and scroll patters and circles in the
spandrels; including cast-iron square gate-posts with moulded finial. Also
including 3 gate-piers to the main drive entrance; slate rubble with
cemented caps squat and square on plan; 2 piers flank the drive and the
third to the left is for the foot gate; the gates are C20
