of Broadley Farmhouse

GV II

Granary. Circa mid C19. Weatherboarded slight scantling timber frame, now
clad in corrugated iron on 2 sides; standing on slate ruble staddles. Rag
slate hipped roof, grouted on the underside.
Rectangular on plan with doorway at the centre of the north long side
opposite a small window on the south side. Raised upon 12 (4 rows of 3)
staddles which are slate rubble circular on plan with a pronounced batter
and with large round slate caps. The staddles are taller on the south side
where the ground slopes away.
Interior: The walls are lined in timber boarding and the sawn softwood
roof has nailed or bolted trusses.
This sort of granary is uncommon in Devon.
