17/312 The Quay
Quay and Slipway
Quay and slipway. Probably C19. Local stone rubble, some slate and some
coursed local limestone; the coping is dressed limestone.
A narrow quay in front of the houses on The Quay. It is a retaining wall
with projections to left and right. The left of centre projection has been
heightened or rebuilt at the top in local limestone rubble; the right hand
(north) projection was added in circa late Cl9 and is built of coursed
dressed local limestone and has rounded corners. At the south end of the
quay a water conduit head and at the extreme south end a slipway parallel
to the quay and with a retaining wall with pitched limestone copping.
