Fine mid-Cl8 house standing behind forecourt. Tile house has a 3-storey 5-window
brick front, the centre bay being of bluish burnt brick, the sides red. The
central feature has stone Ionic pilasters to lower floors and rusticated quoin+
above. The side quoins are rusticated below the main cornice and have panelled
pilasters above. The main stone cornice is at 2nd floor level, the 2nd floor
being treated as an attic storey and having a moulded stone coping rising to
a small gable in the centre, giving the effect of an open pediment. (cf No
5 East Street). Central 2nd floor window round-headed, central 1st floor window
has scroll sides, all windows have moulded stone architraves and keys. Stone
plinth and strings. Stone doorway is Roman Doric with half-round pilasters,
triglyphs and pediment. The interior, which has recently been sympathetically
restored, has fine original staircase, panelling, carved chimney-pieces, plasterwork
