STALBRIDGE
GOLD STREET (SOUTH SIDE)
Knapp House

GV
II

Probably originally two cottages, now one house much altered. Late C17 or early
C18 origins, with C19 alterations and additions. Coursed rubble walls, tiled
roof with stone slates to eaves. Main range with end stacks, later addition to
the right has an endstack. Addition to the left has no stack. Irregular
fenestration pattern. Door with wooden pediment on scrolled brackets in left
hand addition. All windows are wooden sashes with glazing bars except for that
in the upper floor of the right hand addition which has a casement with leaded
lights. Lintels are of wood. Internally there are deep chamfered beams on the
ground floor. The eaves height has been raised, probably in the C19. There is
an insurance plaque on the wall.
