6/29 The Old Rectory garden wall
and archway

House, dated 1699. Squared, coursed rubble walls with ashlar quoins and slate
roof. Originally symmetrical double-pile plan with 2 parallel roof ranges.
2 storeys and attic with 5 bay main range. C19 sash windows with no glazing
bars. Central door with C19 porch. Heavy cornice with modillions. Stone
end stacks. Plat band between ground and first floor, 2 bay service wing and
later additions to the left. Internally the staircase is an important feature
(RCHM). Garden wall forms arch over front gate and bears a flat hood with dentils
on scrolled brackets (possibly originally over front door). 'RCHM, Dorset,
