House, dated 1789 but possibly with earlier core. Rubble and ashlar, north facade
roughcast. Half-hipped tiled roof with 2 brick stacks each one-third in from ends.
Classical derailing applied to an asymmetric front. 2 storeys and attic, 5 bays.
All windows except the upper floor central are 6-pane sashes with vertical glazing
bars in moulded architraves. Central porch with Doric columns and dentilled
entablature. Entablature bears triglyphs and medallions in the frieze. The
capitals of the columns bear flower motifs. The porch supports a canted bay,with
4-pane wooden sashes. 2 gabled dormers with 2-light wooden casements with horizontal
glazing bars. The left stack bears a date stone. The right stack is C20. To the
rear is a thatched brick wing. "RCHM, Dorset Vol III", HMSO 1970, p 284, No 54.
