House C17 or earlier. Coursed rubble, asbestos slate, gable ended roof with
stone stacks to gables and to left of front door. 2 storeys, 4 window range. Ground
floor has 3-light, C20 casements with glazing bars under wooden lintels. Above are
similar 2-light windows. C20 glazed door. Left gable has 2 2-light windows with
timber ovolo-moulded mullions. Internal features (RCHM): Original oak door and
surround with wrought iron strap hinges having triple poppy-head finials; partially
reset plank and muntin partitions; gable wooden newel stair; moulded ceiling beams;
various chamfered and moulded fireplaces, nail studded plank doors. Staircase and
central stack probably inserted and disused wall plate suggests eaves have been
raised. The house may therefore be a C17 remodelling of an earlier building.
