ST 81 NE SUTTON WALDRON

2/174 Pair of Huxtable monuments,
in the churchyard, immediately
north of chancel of St
Bartholomew's Church.

GV II

Pair of table-tombs on common base. Earliest inscription 1883. Stone. Main
tomb has double ridged top and quatrefoiled sides. Moulded cornice enriched
with ballflower. Monument as a whole is surmounted by a verical cross finial.
Subsidiary tomb has a ridged top with an horizontal cross set across it.
Inscriptions to Archdeacon Huxtable and his first and second wives. Archdeacon
Huxtable financed the building of the church and the tomb is important in an
historical context.
