7/17 Barn at Tomson Farm, 25m
west of the farmhouse

GV II

Barn, incorporating a dovecote. Early C17 origin, rebuilt or extended to north
in C19. Original section has rubble stone walls, ½-hipped tiled roof with stone
eaves courses. Later section has timber-framed walls on stone base. 2 south
bays - C17, have raised cruck trusses with braced collars. Later, north section,
of 5 bays, with cart entrance, has tie-and collar-beam trusses. Projecting
gabled dovecote on west has original, blocked, low 4-centred arched doorway.
Later inserted doors, one replacing a stone mullioned window. Stone mullioned
window on first floor, - louvred. Lower, brick extension at south end, with
½-hipped tiled roof.
