6/69 Deverel Farm House

GV II

Detached farmhouse. Early to mid C19. Brick walls with burnt headers.
Low-pitched slate roof with moulded bargeboards; brick stacks with moulded
caps, irregularly sited. 2 storeys. Main elevation has central recessed
section flanked by slightly projecting gabled wings, with a projecting wing
at left end. In centre section, a panelled door with semi-circular fanlight,
flanked by round-headed windows - all under a tiled pentice. Above this, on
first floor, a sash window with centre glazing bar and moulded surround; - cill
on moulded brackets. Each of the gabled wings has, on each floor, one similar
window. The left-hand projecting range has, on each floor, one sash window
with centre glazing bar, under gauged brick arch. Projecting rear wing in
matching construction, - also a single-storey lean-to. Brick garden wall.
Small brick and tile outbuilding. Good unspoiled Victorian house. Appears
on Tithe Map of c1840.
