Architect, Reginald Blomfield. West end, 1913; remainder, 1923. East-west
wing of 2 storeys; entrance tower of 3 storeys. At west end, on South
face, very wide gabled bay projects slightly forward; 6-light transomed
windows with dripmoulds to first and ground floors; ramped coping to gable
end; urn and ball finials. In recession to east, 3-light window above
and below, lower window above a four-centred headed doorway with shallow
carved spandrels. Date plaque "1913". To east again, 2 window bays, transomed
and mullioned windows, with upper windows rising into roof space with gables
over. To east again, probably in new block, 2 further window bays with
transomed and mullioned windows.
At east end, entrance tower of 3 storeys 3 windows bays with passage through
on ground floor. Wider centre bay has panelled embatted parapet and projects
slightly forward from east bay which also projects. Left hand bay has
3-light transomed window on second floor, and a 3-light window to first
floor. Date stone "1923" between first and ground floors; 3-light window
with 3-centred heads immediately above a doorway to ground floor. Centre
first and second floor windows set within a single bolection moulded frame
with stone panelling between the floors. East bay has single-light transomed
window on 2nd and first floors and, below, a 2-light cusped headed window
above a doorway. In north side of entrance tower, Western bay is of 2
toreys only and in only slight recession, with a tall staircase window
of 2-lights, 3-tiers. To centre bay, painted Royal Coat of Arms. To west
of Tower, North face of 4 bays with similar articulation to south face.
To west again, a 2-light 3-tier window with 3-centred head to uppermost
lights; at west end, wide gabled bay with 6-light, 2-tier window.

The following buildings of Sherborne School surround the greens immediately
to the north of the Abbey Church of St Mary and form a group with themselves
and with the Abbey Church of St Mary.
