C14. Former Rectory of St Peter's and Holy Trinity when the 2 livings were
combined. Home of the Rev John Hhite (1575-1648), Rector (l605-48), organiser
of the Dorset emigrants who sailed on the "Mary and John" to Massachusetts in
l630.
Ridgeway rubble. Pitched modern tile roof. 2 plain brick stacks. 2 storeys.
1 industrial window with glazing bars and 1 casement on 1st floor. 1 casement
with glazing bars on ground floor. Carriage entrance with rounded C19 corners
at west end.
The only mediaeval detail which survived into modern times was a Cl4 doorway,
formerly in the south wall, now inside No 17 South Street.
Nos 1 to 5 (consec) including Messrs Thurman's warehouse form a group.
