Late Cl9. Probably by Crickmay and Son of Weymouth, the designers of Agriculture
House, High West Street. Brown brick, with ashlar (apparently Bath stone) dressings.
3 storeys. Continuous sill bands, stringcourse, full entablature with cartouches
linked by swags below frieze, modillion eaves cornice and parapet. Brick chimneys
with ashlar ornament, viz: dentilled stringcourses, ornamental panels, coved
cornices and acroteria. 3 ranges of sashes with moulded architraves, those
on lst floor having scroll-ended friezes, with swags set on oblong panels, dentilled
cornices and scroll-shaped pediments with terminal acroteria and shell motifs
in centres. Ends of 2nd floor are set back slightly and have ornamental scrolls
set against them. Contemporary shop front: pilasters with elaborate carved
capitals and modillion cornice. A very vigorous design, with reminiscences
of "Greek" Thompson.
All Saint's Church and Nos 21 to 26 (consec) form a groqp with No 1 Cornhill
