Late C18 front to older house. Plaster. 3 storeys. 5 ranges of sashes. Strings
at each cill level. Those to 2 upper storeys fluted. Moulded cornice. Parapet.
Projecting porch with Tuscan columns supporting entablature, frieze decorated
with alternate paterae and fluting. Door with fielded panelling in moulded
doorcase. Late C19 stained glass in lower sashes of lst floor. Mullioned windows
behind, and moulded beams inside.
Nos 48 to 65A (consec)including the Shire Hall, Holy Trinity Church, the Museum,
St. Peter's Church and monument to William Barnes in churchyard immediately south
of West Tower form a group.
