C17, since a man was killed here during Monmouth's Rebellion. But most external
evidence appears to be C18, and the street front was completely re-cased in
mid C19. This is stucco. 3 storeys. Moulded eaves cornice on brackets.
Blocking course. Moulded strings and continuous sill bands to 1st and 2nd floors.
Rusticated ground floor. Moulded panels between windows on 1st floor, and
vermiculated panels between strings and sill bands. 6 ranges of sashes. 2
2-storey canted bays. Elliptical arch to yard entry. Doorway with Tuscan
pilasters and entablature.
Rear of main range is slate-hung, I tripartite flush-framed sash with glazing
bars. 1 attic dormer with casements. 2 ventilation grilles to cellars with
vine leaf pattern in cast iron.
2 long extensions to rear. The east one is 3-storeyed, of which the upper
2 are jettied: 4 ranges of cased flush-framed sashes with glazing bars. Further
south are more coursed rubble and brick extensions which culminate in a block
with a hipped slate roof, segment headed passageway through, an external brick
stair to rear with stone treads, and a clock in the front.
The west extension has a lamp on a cast iron bracket in the front part. Further
south are 2 storey colour washed brick stables; pitched slate roof; 4 planked
stable doors: 1 planked double door; 2 planked loft doors; 8 slatted openings
for ventilation.

Nos 8 to 36 (even) form a group with the United Reformed and Methodist Church.
