Description

ST 61 SE CAUNDLE MARSH

2/71 11-7-51 Poll Bridge Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse, c1700, Coursed rubble walls with tiled, gable ended roof
with end brick stacks. Half H plan. Symmetrical facade. 2 storeys,
3 bay. 3-light stone mullioned windows with square heads and hollow
chamfers except for the upper floor central which is similar but takes
the 'Venetian' form, the central light having a false round head.
Central C20 porch with reset, probably C18, flush panel door. An
interesting example of late gothic detailing (ie hollow chamfered
mullioned windows) in combination with a symmetrical facade and a
simple renaissance motif.
RCHM, Dorset, vol III, p 56, no 9.
