12/217 26-1-56 Pear Tree House

GV II

House, C16, remodelled C19. Banded flint and rubble with upper floor
in banded brick and flint. Rubble quoins. Gable-ended thatched roof
with end brick stacks. 1½ storeys, 3 window range. Ground floor has
3-light casements with full glazing bars to the right and horizontal
glazing bars to the left. The upper floor has 2-light casements with
glazing bars. Central C20 door. Internal features (RCHM): open
fireplace with chamfered surround and 4-centred head cut from reused
altar-stone with 5 incised consecration crosses; end newel stone stair
entred through doorway with 4-centred head; upper doorway with 4-centred
head and continuous jambs; upper fireplace with moulded 4-centred head
with carved initials in the spandrels; ceilings with deep chamfered,
intersecting beams.
