7/3 The Old Rectory


GV II


Rectory in garden, now private house. Early C19, with mid C19 top storey
and rear wing (kitchen range). Rubble stone walls, stuccoed and painted at
front (south) elevation. Plat bands over the ground floor and first floor
windows. Slate roofs, with parallel ridges and gable-ends. Large projecting
stack on west front gable, with a rendered stack over 3 storeys. 3 windows,
sashes with glazing-bars, top floor having segmental heads. Ironwork
verandah (C20) along south front, with a glazed-in pentice roof. Front
door entrance on west wall, 6 recess-panel door, (C20) with panelled reveals
and fanlight over. Interior, thick central wall, running longitudinally,
suggest house extended to present double-depth and totally refashioned in
C19.
