ST 61 NE OBORNE VILLAGE
6/84 Grange Cottage
GV II

Detached cottage, at right angles to road. Late C17, extended mid C18,
initials and date I.N. 1756 below east stack, refenestrated C20. Rubble-
stone walls, with dressed stone quoins. Thatch roof hipped at left hand
and gabled at right hand. Stone stack at centre ridge with C20 brick
cappings. L-plan. Two storeys. 3 windows to south elevation, ground
floor, C20 French window and 3-light window. Three 2-light windows over.
These are all wood casements with lead lights, wood cills and wood lintels,
C20. Front door at right ground, plank and glazed, C20. Heavy thatch porch
canopy over, carried on two wooden posts, C20. Interior: two open stone
fireplaces, back-to-back, with wood lintels over. (RCHM, Dorset I, p 176(6)).
