Detached house. Of 3 builds. The left range an early C18 house , possibly
incorporating some early C17 work. Centre range added c1920 - in traditional
style. Right range, - 2 former outbuildings now part of house, - probably C18.
Left range has rubble stone walls, slate roof with coped gables, stone end
stacks raised in brick. 2 storeys. Original doorway with moulded surround,
blocked to take an oval window. Ground floor has 3 stone mullioned windows
with lead lights; - 2 with flat mullions, 1 a C19 replacement with chamfered
mullions. First floor has 5 flat mullioned windows with lead lights. Centre
block has gable end to road. Rubble stone walls up to first floor level,
tile-hanging above, with some fish-scale tiles. Double Roman tiled roof with
coped gable. Stone porch with hipped tiled roof, overlapping earlier left range.
4-centred arched opening. Oak ledged door. In gable, ground floor has a stone
mullioned window matching those in left range. First floor has one casement
with glazing bars. Right range in 2 sections. Left section, now part of house,
has rubble stone walls and double Roman tiled roof. Single-storey. One C20
stone mullioned window with hoodmould. Oval window in blocked doorway, and
small round window. Right of this a lower range of similar construction, now
used as garage. Double garage doors, oak ledged door and one casement with
glazing bars. Internally, in left range, 2 ground floor rooms have large open
fireplaces with timber lintel and jambs - suggesting early C17 date. Some
chamfered ceiling beams. (RCHM Monument 6. Dorset. Vol. I).
