Detached house. Early C17 origin - datestone 1601 on front elevation.
Altered and enlarged in C18 and c.1920. Rubble stone walls. Stone slate
roofs with coped gabled, ashlar stack. Present plan irregular, but the
original house of L-shaped plan, with main range parallel to road and front
projecting wing at left end. The C20 additions in matching construction
and style. Part 2-storeys, part 2 storeys and attic. Original range of
2 storeys. Part-glazed door in C20 lean-to porch. Ground floor has two
3-light stone mullioned windows with lead lights, and hoodmoulds. First
floor has 2 similar windows under raised coped gables. Small single-light
windows over porch. Carved Coat of Arms with datestone above left dormer.
Left wing, at right angles to road, possibly extended in C18, of 2 storeys
and attic. Ground floor has 2 C20 stone mullioned windows with hoodmoulds.
First floor has a 3-light stone mullioned window with hoodmoulds. Similar
2-light window in attic gable. Stone stacks set diagonally at each end of
this wing. c1920 extensions to left and at rear, including glazed
conservatory and single-storey billiard room - all in matching style. At
left end of main front, a flat-roofed porch in classical style - parapet with
urn finial, round-headed panelled door in moulded arch with keystone and imposts,
approached up stone steps with solid balustrades. Internally, ground floor
room at right end has one moulded and 3 deep chamfered ceiling beams and C18
dado panelling. In C20 section some re-used ceiling beams. On first floor,
small room used as bathroom has C18 bolection moulded panelling, cornice and
fireplace surround. Room at west end has segmental curved ceiling and C18
