8/117 Keeper's Cottage

GV II

Detached cottage, former gamekeeper's cottage. Dated 1843 on pump. Brick
walls - part of front wall plastered. Tiled roof with bargeboards and brick
dentil cornice at eaves. Central brick stack, rebuilt with 2 diagonally set
shafts and oversail caps. L-shaped plan. One storey and attic. On front
elevation, a projecting gabled wing at left end, this wall plastered. This
has on ground floor, a canted bay window with stone mullions and cast iron
lattice glazing. In attic a 2-light stone mullioned window under hoodmould,
with similar glazing. Right of the gable, a lean-to porch, gabled in
centre, on concrete posts. Battened door in 4-centred stone arched
opening. Single storey rear lean-to with slate roof. Lead pump in this,
dated 1843, with relief figure of man, and initials El.
