9/40 The Old Rectory

GV II

Rectory, now private dwelling, early C19 origin but largely mid to late C19.
Banded brick and flint and brick with ashlar dressings. Tiled roof with
moulded terracotta stacks in various locations. To the road are an attached
carriage house and what appears to be a former school room. Part 2 and part
1½ storeys. Stone mullioned and mullioned and transomed windows with leaded
lights. Some projecting triangular oriels. Doorways variously located with
4-centred, chamfered ashlar heads and ribbed doors. Carved bargeboards.
Victorian postbox set in wall on roadside. A competent piece of C19 work.
