GV II

Barn. C17, altered and extended early C18, repaired C19. Timber framed and
weatherboarded; high red brick plinth; old tile roof. Seven bays with central
midstrey to north; extended 3 bays to west, with second entrance in north
side of first bay of addition. Roof half hipped to west; midstrey roof
hipped. Probably originated as wholly timber frame building (incorporating
much reused timber) in C17. Two original trusses have (or had) collared
rafters with feet inset from ends of tie beams, and apexes with yokes from
which the ridge piece is supported by a short King post. East gable and north
wall is brick in English bond. Early C18 by comparison with other buildings
at Woodlands (qv) continuous with plinth of extension; south wall plinth C19,
when roof largely rebuilt.
