The Fort, on the Lake

II

Folly. Probably c1851. Rubble stone walls with brick dressings, and flat roof.
Circular battlemented tower on a circular platform built out into the lake. Tower
of one storey, with four openings with four-centred arched heads - that on the
landward side with doors, the others shuttered. String courses above openings and
below battlements. Circular platform paved with square tiles; low stone boundary
wall to this, raised on the landward side to form an archway with iron gates.
Brass cannon formerly on platform now removed and stored. Picturesque feature of
the Lake.
