Springfield Cottage

II

Once two cottages. Possibly late C17 origin, altered in late C18 and C19.
Plastered walls, thatched roof, plastered stacks. Two storeys. Two porches with
gabled tiled roofs and ogee-shaped bargeboards - one with old panelled door, one
with later glazed door. Stable door at south end. Ground floor has three C19
inserted square bay windows, with double-hung sashes. First floor has three
double-hung sash windows and three casement windows with glazing bars.
Former stable attached to house at south end has plastered walls, thatched roof, and
stable door.
Internally, one deep chamfered ceiling beam suggests C17 origin.
