1/71 The Engine House

Former engine house, how used as store. c1842. Brick walls, plastered.
Asbestos slate roof with crow-stepped gable. At right angles to quay.
Single-storey. Pair of ledged doors in centre of gable with, on each side,
a window with glazing bars, all under a continuous hoodmould. Carved coat
of arms over door. On each side, a wing wall linking this building to
Carpenter's Cottage on left and Quay Cottages on right. Each of these walls
has a crow-stepped gable in centre, with carved shield. Large openings with
timber gates below gables. Part of an important group on the harbour frontage.
