and the description shall be amended to read:-
Garden wall, originally belonging to Morton's House (qv). Probably late C18. Brick
wall, mainly in rat-trap bond, with buttresses at intervals, and flat stone capping.
Section dividing Herons and the Rectory has a rectangular opening with stone quoins.
Wall above opening raised, forming a pediment. On each side of this carved stone
crowned bird (? crane). East of this, the wall replaced by a series of freestanding
brick piers with flat caps and stone urn finials. Entrance to Herons, set diagonally
at junction of west and south walls has a pair of rectangular brick gatepiers (gates
missing) with flat caps and carved stone birds (? eagles). At north end of west
boundary wall of Herons the wall steps out to enclose a potting shed - this not of
special interest. East wall, north end: south of Orchard Cottage is a section of
lower walling which steps up to the south, and to the north ramps up over a bricked-up,
timber-lintelled opening (the top course and coping removed); to the south is an
inserted opening; to the north the wall forms the rear wall of Orchard Cottage's
garage (built c1970) and has been heightened in breeze-block; this part and the
rest of the wall running northwards, which has been rebuilt (probably c1970) in
whitish brick, is not of special interest. The north wall ramps up westwards, the
old wall terminating at the c1980 garage of Thatch (not of special interest).
