Small country house. Mid C18; largely rebuilt 1821 by John Dobson for Thomas
Fenwick. Ashlar sandstone and graduated green slate roofs. Square-plan main
block with T-plan service range on north. Plain classical style.

Main block 2-storeys,3 x 3 bays. Low plinth; corners break forward; tall
parapet above cornice with balustraded sections. West front: wide entrance
embrasure, in projecting surround with cornice and blocking course, leads to
replaced door and surround. Sashes, with intermediate glazing bars removed and
square-cut reveals, are elongated on ground floor. Narrow 2-storey canted bay
on south. Later single-storey projecting bay and wide 2-storey canted bay on
east. Low-pitched hipped roof hidden by parapet. Ridge stacks with top bands.

Slightly taller service range: 3 storeys; 3-bay inner returns and 7 bays across
rear. Sashes with square-cut reveals: 12-pane below; small 6-pane sashes on
second floor. Low-pitched hipped roof and tall corniced ridge stacks.

Interior of main block: 6-panel doors in wood architraves; 3-flight open-well,
cut-string staircase with handrail on ornamental cast-iron balusters; ground-
floor rooms with simple classical cornices.

Single-storey outbuildings, enclosing yard on rear of service range, are not of
special interest.
