Former head gardener's house, now private dwelling. Mid C19 for Brancepeth
Estate. Roughcast masonry and chimney stacks. Graduated green slate roof.
H-plan. 2-storey, 3-bajfront: centre bay flanked by projecting cross-gabled
wings. Wide semicircular-plan porch, added on centre bay, has central 6-panel
door and patterned overlight framed by paired Doric columns; flanking 12-pane
sashes with identical end columns and an entablature which breaks forward
above the paired columns. Wings have 12-pane sashes with projecting sills
and roofs with overhanging eaves and verges, the latter with exposed purlins.
Tall corniced lateral stacks on inner returns. 3-bay right return has doorway,
with 4-centred head under hoodmould, flanked by segmental bow windows. Small
gabled half dormer with 12-pane sash above door.
