9/72 The Thinford
Public House
and Restaurant
Public house and restaurant. Probably mid C18 with early C19 wing and C20
alterations. Painted rubble; concrete pantiled roof and rebuilt grey-brick
chimney stacks. L-plan: main block with C19 wing on left rear. 2-storey,
3-bay main block, facing Thinford Lane, has central doorway with replaced
door flanked by 16-pane sashes, with C20 louvred shutters, and three replaced
sashes above. Roof with slightly-swept eaves, hipped at left. 2-bay left
return with identical fenestration. 2-storey, 3-bay added rear wing has
16-pane sashes, similar shutters on ground floor and a low-pitched roof with
left end and ridge stacks. Late C20 gabled porch on centre of wing and C20
additions on right return and rear of main block are not of interest.
