(No. 7)
House, formerly main block of the Manor House. Early-mid C18 with C19
alterations; later C18 rear wing. Coursed rubble ground floor; upper storeys
in narrow hand-made brick painted white; similar brick wing. Ridged concrete
roof tiles and rebuilt brick chimney stacks. L-plan: main block with gabled
wing at right-angles on left rear. 3-storey main block, entered from wing,
has bands between storeys and blocked original openings. Each storey now has
2 openings: early C19 cantedbay window at ground-floor right; small diamond-
shaped opening, possibly a former closet window, to right of canted bay;
16-pane sashes with projecting sills elsewhere. Projecting brick course at
eaves. Steeply-pitched roof with transverse end stacks. 2-storey, 2-bay wing
has 3-panel door under segmental head, two 16-pane sashes above and a steeply-
pitched roof with large square end stack. Single-storey, 2-bay extension on
rear of wing has altered openings and a steep roof. Tumbled-in brickwork on
gables. Tall and narrow gabled stair wing, with margined sashes, and added
2-storey outshut, with 16-pane sashes, on rear of main block. Interior: cut-
string dogleg staircase, of 4 flights plus landing rail, has 2 turned balusters
per tread and a ramped square-sectioned handrail. Fielded 6-panel doors, with
I-L hinges, in wood architraves.
