NZ 01 NE WHORLTON HUMBLETON

4/77 Humbleton Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Probably early C18. Snecked sandstone with dressed quoins and
some rubble lower courses; sandstone;flagged roof with brick stacks. Hearth-
passage plan. 2 storeys, 3 wide bays. C20 door in gabled wood porch in third
bay from left; three C19 4-pane sashes with projecting sills; blocked fire
window to left of door. First floor has 16-pane and two 12-pane horizontal-
sliding sashes; blocked window above doorway. Slightly-projecting eaves and
flat-coped gables with shaped kneelers. Left end stack has single stone course,
water table and rebuilt brick chimney; rebuilt ridge and right end stacks.
Later single-storey outshut and low, short gabled wing to rear. Attached garage
to left and stable to rear not of special interest.
