Country house. Late C17 with additions in mid C18 and in 1816. Late C17 rear
wing dressed sandstone with graduated green slate roof. Mid C18 central block
and flanking pavilions of 1816: sandstone ashlar; roofs not visible; corniced
ashlar stacks.

Central block: 3 storeys, 5 x 3 bays; low plinth, raised quoins, bands and
strings, the top string modillioned. Central half-glazed double door and
fanlight with intersecting tracery in open-pedimented Roman Doric doorcase.
Flanking 12-pane sashes in Gibbs surrounds. First floor: central 12-pane sash
above blind balustraded apron has eared architrave, double keystone and floating
cornice; flanking 12-pane sashes in architraves. Second floor has five 6-pane
sashes in architraves; modillioned cornice and panelled parapet above. Left
and right returns have similar fenestration and lateral stacks which rise above
parapet.

Slightly-projecting, single-storey pavilions have low plinth and recessed centre
with segmental-headed French windows flanked by panelled piers. Bowed returns
have 3 French windows, cornice and low parapet.

2-storey, 3-bay rear wing has rusticated quoins, band between floors and 12-pane
sashes in architraves.

Interior: mid C18 features including 6-panel doors; window shutters and several
contemporary chimney-pieces.

Late C20 additions to rear and right not of special interest.
