20 metres north of
Pecknell Farmhouse
Linked farmbuildings. Late C18 barn; early-mid C19 range of loose-boxes and
a pigsty; 2 haybarns (west one dated 1866); cart shed, with granary over, dated
1905. Sandstone walls: coursed rubble barn, loose-boxes and pigsty; rubble
haybarns with dressed quoins; dressed stone cart shed. Haybarns have Welsh
slate roofs; other buildings have stone-flagged roofs except for part of the
loose-box range which has a corrugated-iron roof. U-plan main barn with haybarns
attached to outer returns and cart shed attached to centre of rear. Loose-boxes
and pigsty, with walled yard, attached to south return of eastern haybarn.

2-storey, 9-bay, U-plan barn with 2-bay returns. Symmetrical front facing yard
has flush quoins, 2 segmental-arched openings and breathers.Openings altered in
mid C19: 9-pane fixed light to left of centre; inner returns have first-floor
boarded openings and hit-and-miss ventilators. Low-pitched hipped roof.
Tall 3-bay haybarns have rectangular-plan piers. Central outer pier of western
barn has clay pipes arranged to show date 1866. Low-pitched roof with central
louvred ventilator.

3-bay cart shed with granary over. 3 segmental-arched openings, with flush
voussoirs; 2 openings and a boarded door above. 1905 datestone in northern
spandrel. Hipped roof.

Single-storey 4-bay north range of loose-boxes has 2 blocked, segmental-arched
openings with inserted boarded doors. Lower 2-bay south range has an elliptical
archway and blind quatrefoil in south gable.

Pigsty has low pent roof; feeding chute into walled yard.

Late C20 barn, attached to east front of cart shed, is not of special interest.
Altered shelter sheds, attached at right-angles to south returns of main barn,
and L-plan single-storey range, attached to south return of western haybarn,
have replaced corrugated-iron roofs and are not of special interest.
