30/56 Saltoun House
II
House, formerly a Wesleyan School. Probably late C18, refronted c.1830. Pebble-
dashed front with dressed stone basement. Stone-flagged roof and stone chimney
stacks.

2 storeys, plus basement, 3 wide bays. Raised-and-chamfered quoins to left.
7 stone steps to central partly-glazed 6-panel door in enriched pedimented
doorcase with decorative consoles. Basement, beneath roll-moulded band, has
paired 4-pane sashes in projecting tooled surrounds. Tripartite sash windows,
flanking doorway, have projecting surrounds with stepped arched heads. Central
sash above, in similar arched surround, is flanked by identical tripartite
windows. Roof with coped left gable and shaped kneeler. Corniced left end
stack and right stack (above junction with West Lodge) are set below ridge and
have ornamental chimney-pots.

West Lodge, attached to right, is not of special interest.
