Durham County Council marker stone. Probably early C19. Square-section
sandstone block, about 1/2 metre high, with arched top. Large, well-cut Roman
capital C on side facing road. Marks limit of County responsiblity for
Oakley Cross West Bridge, which is now under renewed highway.
